Come and join us for a legendary and one of the most spectacular coastal hikes in the South East of England!
We’re off to the Seven Sisters – a series of chalk cliffs found on the coast of East Sussex by the English Channel. They are thought to have formed by glacier meltwater at the end of the last Ice Age (10,000 BC): the meltwater carved steep-sided valleys, which were then truncated by sea erosion into the cliffs we see today.
On this hike, we will be walking the Seven Sisters route from Seaford to Eastbourne. This is a challenging hike with 500m of ascent spread over 20+ km and virtually non-stop climbing and descending! We will enjoy some stunning views over the coastline for pretty much the whole hike.
Distance: 15 miles (23 km).
This hike is suited for those that have a good level of fitness or want to challenge themselves. There will be a number of uphills and downhills, with a total of 8+ hills to hike up and down. There will be various options to shorten the hike; however, the aim is to complete the full route.
We will meet at 8:45am near Ibis London City, 1 Pomell Way, E1 6BF (near Aldgate East Station) and depart at 9:00am. Planned arrival time back to London, depending on the pace of the group, is about 7pm.
We will stop for a quick lunch during the hike, so please bring a packed lunch. After the hike, we will visit a pub, where you can purchase a very well-deserved beer 🙂
This hike is led by an experienced, Outdoor First Aid qualified Mountain Leader.
What to bring:
That’s it, we will take care of the rest, so just turn up and have a great day of hiking! ?
If you’d like to walk at a faster pace than the group, we recommend to download the Maps.me app on your phone. All maps in the app are offline, which means that you’ll be able to use them without an internet connection or in places with poor reception. The Maps.me app is free and is very easy to use. On the day, I will explain how to use the app and share the GPS route of the hike. For more details on how to download the app see here.
