A Herring Fair tradition Join Hastings’ fishermen and friends as they have their nets blessed and celebrate the local catch. Now & Then will lead a sing-around of ‘Shoals of Herring’.
The free undercover event where you can discover more about this undervalued but versatile fish, herring. Celebrating the Silver Darlings of the sea, Hastings Herring Fair will combine food stalls and cookery demonstrations with live music, and local beers, wines, and ciders – all inside a marquee on the Stade (adjacent to the fishing beach and Jerwood art gallery).
08:45 meet at Ibis London City Hotel, 5 Commercial St, E1 6BF (near Aldgate East Station); 09:00 departure; 11:00-12:00 guided walk around the town, fisherman museum (free, donations £5 welcome); 12:00-17:00 Hastings fish Festival, musical bands, artists (Now and Then, Milton Hide, The Salts, The Sugarloaf Band); 17:00 departure; 19:00 London, Aldgate East.
