Every year on 20th of June, people from around the world gather together at Stonehenge to celebrate the summer solstice and to see the sunrise in the circle of ancient stones. The summer is the longest day of the year – the day when we can enjoy about 17 hours of daylight. The celebration lasts all night long. When the sun will rise you will see how the central Altar aligns with the Slaughter and Heel stones. The summer solstice is the most important day of the year in Stonehenge and it is a truly unforgettable event. Some people believe that midsummer day holds a special power. Midsummer’s eve is believed to be a time when the veil between this world and the next is at its thinnest, and when spirits are very powerful. For some this night is a spiritual journey, for others it’s a unique opportunity to touch the ancient stones.
Whichever it is for you, you will share this experience with more than 25 thousand of Neodruids, Neopagans, Wiccans, tourists and party people.
Although there are some catering facilities not far from the Stones we do recommend to bring a light meal and soft drinks with you. We also recommend bringing warm and wind/waterproof clothing.
